Finance Manager

We are looking for our first hire in corporate functions—a Finance Manager who will own finance but also lend a hand across legal, HR, office operations, and wider business ops. Ultimately, you’ll build and lead the team that keeps Farseer running smoothly. This is a greenfield role: you’ll have the freedom to design the playbook, choose the tooling, and build the dashboards that guide Farseer’s next phase of growth.

Who are we?

Farseer is a fast-growing startup building an enterprise software stack from first principles. We aim to become the underlying database and operating system for every business-critical app—from financial planning and analytics to accounting and beyond. Farseer empowers humans to build beautiful enterprise software with the help of AI.

Over the next decade, we’ll rebuild the enterprise nervous system. We’re starting with finance: a real-time, collaborative planning and reporting platform that turns the finance teams from backward-looking number-crunchers into proactive strategists. Once that foundation is solid, the same AI-native core will extend to the rest of a company’s operational stack—reporting, supply chain management, manufacturing, procurement, revenue ops, you name it.

Our mission is to build enterprise software that people actually enjoy using. No more user-hostile screens or bloated workflows—just fast, intuitive tools that let humans focus on solving real business problems.

At Farseer, every hire is here to create business value, not busywork. Sometimes that means launching a new initiative; other times it means simplifying a process or automating what used to take days. Each project is led by its owner—scoping, driving, and shipping the solution. And with that autonomy comes real accountability: work isn’t done until the business problem is solved.

What are we looking for

  • Smart and gets things done. Show us times you owned a financial process end‑to‑end—closed the books, built a model, or steered a decision with data.
  • Business-impact mindset. You care more about moving a metric than polishing a 100‑page deck.
  • Fast learner, tool-agnostic. Excel wizardry is great, but you’re eager to adopt whatever stack (ERP, BI, SQL, Python) gets the job done.
  • Owner’s attitude. Ambiguity excites you; you break down fuzzy goals, set a course, and drive the work without waiting for tasks to be assigned.

What you'll do

  • Lead month‑end and year‑end close; deliver accurate, on‑time financial statements.
  • Prepare board & investor reporting packs, including KPI dashboards and variance analysis.
  • Own budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long‑range planning (in—you guessed it—Farseer 😉).
  • Track SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, CAC, LTV) and turn insights into strategic actions.
  • Manage cash flow, billing, collections, and treasury; optimise working capital.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, and People teams to evaluate business cases and investment ROI.
  • Implement scalable finance processes, controls, and systems as we expand internationally.
  • Support fundraising and M&A activities with financial modelling and due diligence materials.
  • Keep our Zagreb HQ running smoothly: handle vendor contracts, supplies, travel logistics, and general office administration until we hire a dedicated Office Manager.
  • Collect, clean, and maintain sales databases (e.g., prospect and contact lists) to power outbound campaigns and reporting.

We'd be happy if you have

  • 2 + years in finance, accounting, or FP&A—ideally in a high‑growth B2B SaaS company or Big 4.
  • Solid grasp of SaaS metrics & revenue recognition
  • Fluency with modern finance tech (ERP, BI, spreadsheet killers) and a passion for automation.
  • Strong analytical skills—you turn data into clear, actionable narratives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most seniors mix on‑site days with remote work. For junior roles we prefer more face‑to‑face time at the start, but we’re flexible.

  1. Phone screen – a 30‑minute chat about your background and what you’re looking for.
  2. On‑site technical interview
General questions – open‑ended topics in science, society, and software to see how you think.
Example: What urgent problem has technology not solved yet?

    Finance case study
    – walk us through a real or fictional scenario and how you’d tackle it (modelling, metrics, trade‑offs).
Example task: build a budgeting + actuals model for a small company.

  3. Chat with the CEO – culture fit, your goals, and any final questions.

The whole process usually fits inside two weeks.

We tailor every offer, combining base salary, performance bonus, and stock options.

Typical salary ranges (gross, yearly):

  • Intern 8-12 net hourly
  • Junior 20-30k gross (bruto2)
  • Mid 30-50k gross (bruto2)
  • Senior 50-80k gross (bruto2)

Most days we work 9-5. But we’re an early‑stage start‑up, and raw hours can still move the needle. That means many of us choose to jump back in later some evenings, and—on rare occasions—a weekend sprint to hit a milestone. It’s driven by personal ambition, not policy.
